"Heather Jorge helped us with the sale of our home in Port Charlotte. That is a totally accurate, but inadequate, statement. Heather Jorge made the sale happen.
I have a significant amount of experience in the real estate business. I ran a Mortgage Bank in New Hampshire and worked as a Wholesale Lender in Florida for 10 years. I have also bought and sold several properties in both states. Through my experience I have developed an unfortunate opinion of Realtors.
Many Realtors simply want “the listing” and will present a number for the property that is unrealistic but gets a seller to list with them. The Realtor, now having the property locked up for 6 months, sits back and waits for someone else to do their job. I have seen this both as a seller and as a banker.
Heather has changed my mind so that I no longer use the term, “all Realtors.” Heather came to our listing appointment prepared, with comparable sales information, an aggressive marketing plan, and an extremely energetic approach. She said she would list the property Wednesday night and have no showings until Saturday, when there would be an open house. I love this plan.
I had seriously considered selling my property myself. I was going to list it on Facebook Marketplace. When someone would call to see it, I would tell them they could come Saturday at 10 am, 2 pm, or Sunday at 2 pm. Those were the only showing times available. The dumbest thing Realtors do is say, “I can’t show the house at 10, someone is already there.” That is stupid. I wanted a pile of people in the house to create urgency. Heather’s plan accomplished this, and we had the offer signed Monday.
Heather stayed on the job through the closing. This was important because the buyer’s agent was a complete waste of time. Heather had to instruct them numerous times to correct errors they had in the contract. It turned out that they way to tell if the other agent was not telling the truth was to check if their lips were moving. If they were, what was coming out of their lips was untrue.
I met the buyers at the home inspection. They are very nice, are very qualified to purchase the home, and needed guidance from their agent on how, what, and when to do things. Their agent gave them bad advice several times, then lied about the advice they had given, and then tried to change the terms of the contract well after the contingency period. In short, the agent did nothing to earn the commission.
Had I made the mistake of hiring the other Realtor, I would still be using the term “all Realtors” when describing the ineptitude of the profession. Heather is a unicorn of a Realtor. If you are buying or selling, I recommend her as your best option.
